Hopkins County Regional Civic Center and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office will not be accessible by phone or internet Monday, Feb. 8, (and worst-case scenario, Tuesday and Wednesday) due to work being done on the system. According to Johanna Hicks with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, individuals needing assistance are welcome to drop by in person and the staff will accommodate their requests.

A $500 game camera, which was stolen Jan. 17, has been returned to its owner after the camera took photos of the suspects, which were relayed to the owner’s phone, according to Texas Game Warden Chris Fried.

Prize money doubles for chamber’s Biggest Loser challenge PDF Print E-mail

If you’re looking to get healthy and maybe lose some weight — why  not make some money doing it?

The cash prize offered for the winning team in the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce’s Biggest Loser Community Challenge just doubled.

Jeff Shelton, general  manager of Sulphur Springs Dodge, pledged Thursday morning to match the $1,000 prize offered by the chamber. That brings the prize money to $2,000 for the winning four-person team.

Chamber President and CEO Meredith Caddell is hoping other businesses will follow suit in giving county residents an even larger incentive to get healthy.
