The polls will be open starting Monday for early voting in Yantis Independent School District’s trustees election. Neither Sulphur Springs ISD nor Como-Pickton Consolidated ISD will be required to hold an election this spring.

Nearly 300 staff members received vaccinations and health screenings as part of Sulphur Springs Independent School District School Health Advisory Committee’s wellness activities for staff. SHAC’s annual project also provided health education information to 300 local children and families.

The annual Yantis Catfish Classic will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, at the Minnow Bucket on Lake Fork. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Yantis Volunteer Fire Department.

Sulphur Springs Independent School District last week applied for and has since been granted a waiver exempting the district from having to make up the third day of classes missed due to inclement winter weather earlier this semester.
