The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office’s Trustee Farm is taking another step forward with the donation of eight hogs to a home for orphans. Sheriff Lewis Tatum appeared before county commissioners Monday morning seeking county approval of the donation. The sheriff said he had been contacted by Southern Christian Home in Morrilton, Ark., about the purchase of some of the hogs being raised on the trustee farm.

An autopsy has been ordered in the death of a 30-year-old Sulphur Springs man found dead Saturday in a creek at a wooded area near the FM 1567 home he shared with his father. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

Sulphur Springs Independent School District’s Head Start and Pre-K Registration Roundup will be held April 24-28. Parents or legal guardians of potential pre-k and Head Start students may stop by the Parent Center at Early Childhood Learning Center, 390 North Hillcrest Drive, anytime from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday of next week to apply. Check in at the front office upon arrival.
