A motorist’s failure to stop when a deputy signaled for her to do so resulted in the woman being arrested Tuesday night on a felony charge. Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Davis pursued the woman into Rains County, where she eventually exited her vehicle after refusing medical attention for what Davis described as “distressed” behavior.

Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Education during a special board meeting Friday approved nearly a dozen personnel items, including one resignation and hiring of five new teachers, four new aides and one facilitator. The staff changes will impact five campuses.
