Lucas R. Hill, a former Cumby junior high and high school teacher, was found guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Sherman Friday morning on charges of enticement of a minor and sentenced to 405 months in a federal prison.

Sulphur Springs High School this year will join other campuses across the district as they put additional technology in students’ hands.

This year, the 1:1 Rollout Program will expand to high school, where students have the option of receiving a Dell Latitude 3150 laptop to take home and use during the school year. Students assigned to AEP or in-school suspension may lose access to their device during their time in the alternative classes.

SSHS students can set up access to home wireless networks, however, they do not have administrative rights required to install print drivers so they won’t be able to print from their devices. Documents can be shared digitally, however, and printed from another device. The laptop updates automatically every time it is connected to the network based on a schedule set by the technology staff.

Micah Reed’s memory honored in woodworking competition PDF Print E-mail

In 2015, 12 year-old local Micah Read died following a long-fought battle with leukemia. His mother Sandy not only has continued to raise funds and awareness to fight cancer, but is now banding together with the Masters at Work competition to honor her son’s memory.

Latson’s and Quill will continue to provide general classroom supplies and office materials for Sulphur Springs schools while the district child nutrition department continues to utilize the food service purchasing cooperative agreement with Region VIII Education Service Center for most, if not all, categories of food.

Triston Pullen is nothing short of amazing. Not only does he manage his own production company, Studio 1621, but he’s the artistic director of Main Street Theatre, directs stage plays, writes film scripts, is filming a movie and goes full time to Santa Fe University.  Oh, and now he is headed to Broadway.

The band who entertained millions of fans at Super Bowl XLV is coming to the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center this Friday. Since 1983, the Emerald City Band has been rocking crowds and has been labeled  as the “Entertainer of the Year” by The Dallas Morning News.
