Sometimes, when the planets and stars align, the 24/7 news cycle spits out something so great that it rocks your world - in a good way.
For me, that news came this morning in the form of an e-mail from a friend at Lake Fork who knows how much I love the music of Willis Alan Ramsey (WAR), the Dallas boy who cut one album in 1972, hailed as one of the best of its kind, and then faded into the shadows.
My friend's email told me to check out the GUIDE section of the Dallas Morning News. It seems that WAR is about to release his much-anticipated second CD, Gentilly.
While the DMN article might not rock your world, it will certainly made waves at my desk and I'm sure there will be a lot of buzz in the music industry - for two reasons. (1) WAR is performing in Tulsa on Friday night and he's signed with an agent to book more shows and (2) "We hope to have it mixed and out by the first of the year," Ramsey says of Gentilly.
Here's a link to the DMN piece ... enjoy!
