k d lang and her 5-piece band blew the roof off the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas tonight. The Canadian songbird tore it up and broke it down. I've never heard a girl singer do what she did ... and she was in complete and total control. For almost two hours she and the guys entertained a diverse and appreciative crowd.

I owe a huge thank you to Ryan McKenzie ... we had the chance to visit the other day and the conversation turned to Texas music.

There are two bits of good news for all you Kinsey Millhone fans out there.

On a recent trip into Dallas to see Patti LuPone, Sarah Smith and I had dinner at Ocean Prime, one of the city's most popular seafood restaurants.

Chances are the last time you felt like this, you had a wonderful, wonderful evening, smiling a certain smile and had a misty look of love as you thought about the 12th of never, although it's not for me to say.

If you're going into the city for an evening of entertainment, check out the Capital Grille at 500 Crescent Court (Maple Street). Not only is it a  popular Dallas fine dining destination, the restaurant offers a great deal on nights when there is something going on in the arts district.

It's a great time to be a Guy Clark fan as he's just finished a very successful mini-tour of Texas and today comes the news he's working on a  biography and has two CDs coming out ... The hard part is going to be waiting for the August release of "Songs and Stories" and the November release of "This One's For Him," set to coincide with Clark's 70th birthday. No release date on the biography, but it's a safe bet to say it will be reviewed in an upcoming edition of your News-Telegram.

When I was growing up, summer was a time to play outside, go swimming and make almost daily trips to the library. This summer, there seem to be a lot of books to curl up with. Here are a few from my list so far:

Texas songwriting legend Guy Clark is coming to Poor David's Pub in Dallas for two nights, June 15 and 16. Better act quickly, the show on Wednesday the 15th just been added. The 16th is already sold out.

Willis Alan Ramsey's doing a gig at the historic Kessler Theatre in Oak Cliff Sunday, June 12 ... I have plenty of room in my Trailblazer if you want to hitch a ride.
