I just finished the most delightful book, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's been sitting on my beside table since summer. I've picked it up several times and tried to get past page 10 - to no avail.
Let me just say this right up front: I love Texas singer/songwriters. Yes, I do.
Just got a copy of Atlanta's (Texas, not Georgia) own native son, Tracy Lawrence's THE ROCK.
My goodness. I knew it was this was his first inspirational CD, but I wasn't expecting it to be so good. I'm on my first pass ... and am impressed.
I can’t believe how much disdain I have toward myself for finally giving in and liking this song. I mean, it’s not like I haven’t liked almost everything Miley Cyrus has done before (you think I’m joking), but this song I couldn’t swallow the first few times I heard it.
Something about using the term “tummy” and pretending that she listens to Jay-Z really turned me off. That and the fact that though the song unifies the U.S.A., it can’t also leave the country’s borders and make waves elsewhere. Of course, “it’s a party all over the world” doesn’t really track well with the melody. (And you couldn’t have Miley singing in front of a giant American flag in the video, either.)

I don't know what movie you saw over the weekend, but the place to be was in the cinema playing Diablo Cody's ode to horror movies, Jennifer's Body.
Sometimes, when the planets and stars align, the 24/7 news cycle spits out something so great that it rocks your world - in a good way.
