I know just about everyone out there is familiar with the phrase, "going green". It has been referenced to so many times that Webster's dictionary doesn't recognize green as a crayola color anymore...In fact I have heard it so much lately that the term--green--pains me. But what pains me more is my pocketbook, and how all the electronic companies are causing us to use tons of electricity. Here is the test I put forth to readers out there...wait until it gets dark (like now) and turn off all the lights in your house. How dark is it?

Not as dark as it could be, huh? Do you know why? Well, just in our house, there is a light on the monitor for the computer, computer, the printer, the mouse, and the modem, a light/clock on the VCR/DVD player, a light on the surge protectors, a light on the answering machine, a light/clock on the microwave, a light on the cel phone charger cord and on the cel phone, a light on the battery charger, a light on the smoke alarm, a light on weather alarm, a light from digital alarm clock, a light on the electric razor, a light on the freezer, and get this, a light on the light switch (I'd like to get a hold of the electrician that installed that one...but I'll address that later).

Yes, I know some of these are probably there for good reason. But really, think about it if every household in America could really turn out the lights, and I mean ALL the lights--how much electricity would we be saving?

Ahh, guess I'd need a calculator (one with a light, of course) to add it all up. But it is just like all the recycling talk we hear. It is time we were able to better recycle our electricity and save some cash in the process.

So if there are any electricians out there that can give me the safe way to disconnect the light that lights up the light switch without electricuting myself, I would be happy to start the movement.

Here is another thought, it is said a plugged in appliance still uses electricity. If those appliances like clocks/DVD players had memories that could last the span of a night,  then unplugging them would not be such a hassle.

So all you brilliant tech people out there, you have your assignment. Go out there and turn us all green. We are tired of all the little red lights.

Just don't forget to give me the credit!

The only time I go green is when I drive my green gas-guzzling 4/4 F150.F*** the gov. telling me how to live, what to drive and when to drive it.Eat s***.Every time I here a green commercial,I crank my truck and let it idle for a while, and poke a hole in a can of freon!
