There have been 10 coaching changes in the NFL this season and offseason, which ties the most ever. Will Wade Phillips be the record-breaker?
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the No. 1 reason Phillips would coach the Cowboys next year is continuity, yet Phillips has already fired two of his three coordinators. How much continuity can you have with a new defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator? It's still not a done deal that offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will be back next year with Dallas.
Phillips also unequivocally said that DC Brian Stewart would have his same job for the 2009 season, then fired him less than a month later. Jones has said Phillips will be back as head coach, but that was before such attractive, proven head coaches became available such as Mike Shanahan, John Gruden, Tony Dungy and Mike Holmgren, who have all won Super Bowls.
Phillips has never even won a playoff game as a head coach.
