I had a perfect set-up, I thought.
Some talking head on the Dallas TV had cutely called it a "Texas Twostep" the Rangers vs. the Rays at noon and the Cowboys/Titans at 3:15 p.m.
I had a hot, fresh pizza, my best dog by my side in the trusty recliner. I had settled in Sunday for a long day of watching my favorite teams win.
A not-so-funny thing happened - they didn't. I stayed within control, only cussing and fussing under my breath. I gave up breathing things and sticking my hand through
ceiling fans many years and frustrating losses ago.
The Rangers unable to hit breaking balls, despite swinging at all of them in the dirt. Leaving people stranded on the bases all day. Then Tony Romo got 406 yards passing, but threw to the wrong team - 3 times.
The Cowboys just being dumb, helped the Titans out with a dumb penalty.
Other than a cold slice of pizza, I had nothing good to show for my afternoon in front of the television set. I was irritated and very disappointed.
My dog would not even give me a hug.
So what's a diehard sports fan supposed to do when two of his teams lose? Watch the Wildcats, of course. I knew the outcome of the Sulphur Springs/Greenville game would
be good for home team. The tape delay helped my spirits, at least I got to see one happy game.
The Rangers still have a chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat on Tuesday. The Cowboys- well who knows how long Wade Phillips will get to drive that bus.
