Rockwall Heath's star running back, Kendial Lawrence, has been ruled out for Friday's state quarterfina game with the Sulphur Springs Wildcats. Lawrence leads the DFW metroplex in yards gained and TDs this season.

He injured his shoulder in last Friday's 17-14 victory over Ennis, and Heath coach Mickey Moss (a 1979 SSHS graduate) said Lawrence will be unable to play on Friday when the Hawks take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. at Texas Stadium.

Longhorns get raw deal

Somebody had to get left out of the Big 12 championship game, but it sure doesn't seem right that it was the Longhorns, who beat Oklahoma 45-35 on a neutral field about six weeks ago. The conference title game, though, is small potatoes compared to the national championship game, which will include OU as long as the Sooners take care of Missouri in the Big 12 game. Can Texas join OU in the national championship game? It's possible, but unlikely. At least SSHS fans can watch alum Keenan Clayton, who is having a tremendouse junior year at outside linebacker for the Sooners.

I cracked my iPhone

I have found it to be quite durable actually, but this weekend I found the iPHone's kryptonite - a four-foot drop onto gravel.
