April 22, 2012 - It was a hell of a show on Sunday at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco for Edgefest 22, the mostly-annual alternative-rock music festival hosted by KDGE 102.1 The Edge. Close to 20,000 fans came out to see such bands as the Black Keys, Garbage, Cake, Evanescence, Blue October and Cage the Elephant. Despite the very talented, but much ballyhooed, headliner band, the Black Keys, rocking the house in a big way, without doubt Garbage and Evanescence stole the show.

Went to Ocean Prime, at the corner of Cedar Springs and Pearl, Friday night for dinner with a friend from Virginia.

When Jimmy Buffett performed "Coconut Telegraph" at the Gexa Pavilion in Dallas Thursday night, he changed up the lyrics to give our fair city a shout out. At 2:53 into the number, he sings:

The stack of to be read books on my nightstand continues building its way to the ceiling. And, no I'm not really turning green, but it's spring and I'm thinking about my grandparents a lot. They loved this time of year, out in the yard all the time, planting, tending and growing their garden. I miss them every day.

Adriana Trigiani's new book, "The Shoemaker's Wife," is a sweet, gentle read perfect for a lovely Saturday/Sunday afternoon. Trigiani's mastered the art of telling the American immigrant's story. I had the incredible luck to join my mother and her MOAA (Military Officers Association of American) friends for lunch today at Lago del Pino, a new 11,000 square foot restaurant set on a private lake, just off Highway 31 West near Tyler. The impressive operation opened for business last week.
